Consensus in all things African
Deprogramming the African mind and reclaiming our greatness is not a process that will happen overnight. The difficulty in achieving this task is that most dominant world religions (particularly Abrahamic religions) influenced the communities that they invaded and colonized through a policy of blood and iron for control of indigenes and resources outside their borders. Through centuries of forced indoctrination, peoples and cultures under siege gradually lost any vestiges of cultural backbone. Control of the peoples and cultures in other lands equals wealth and power. To guarantee control and continuous flow of resources (this will include gold, property, land, natural minerals, slaves, etc.) into their evil empires, it became imperative that they achieve this through violence. Hence you have people from diverse backgrounds and cultures forced into compliance with foreign religious philosophies and doctrines (black Africa for example). No one ever negotiated Africa's enslavement and colonization with a smile on their faces. They just shoved it down our throats. Through the generations, we became indoctrinated into systems detrimental to our physical and mental health. Remember, when you take a concept of God away from a people through forced cohesion and supplant it with yours, they become stupid, ignorant and violent, and they will forever justify their worth by standards that are not of their own choosing. This after effect is evidenced by the number of black folks who are Christians, or Muslims, Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria, proliferation of Pentecostal Churches in Africa, Africans who claim to be Jews (particularly some Igbo people of Nigeria), heartless and greedy preachers, poor governance and corrupt leadership, women who bleach their skin, the rampant use of artificial hair pieces from India (weaves), people being encourage in Ghana to have babies using donor European sperm to make sure that the baby is mulatto, believing that the light skin color will give the child a better chance in life, self-hatred of sought, etc. This is what we Africans have to combat today.
Although we are close to falling of the cliff, there is still hope. Through an incessant educational exercise (particularly in our schools (primary, secondary, college) we can begin to minimize the effect of foreign religion on the mind of the African. Remember, the greatest tool in the hands of the oppressor is mind of the oppressed. We simply need to have an educational consensus to achieve this colossal task of deprogramming. This is why while we educate ourselves and our children on the beauty and merit of diverse African cultures; let's not forget that the premise behind this diversity is almost identical. The differences in African cultural and spiritual behaviors lie in rituals designed to achieve the same goals (which by the way is true of all cultures and religions). Therefore, it is essential to enjoin ourselves in spiritual and cultural consensus, show a unified front, and send a strong message to the world that we are one. We must not become comfortable with Laissez-faire approach to issues facing people of African ancestry. The greatest weapon in defense of the African is unity. We must project a unified front in all things, or we will continue to get swallowed up into this abyss of mental slavery. It's the only way, am afraid.
The world has changed, my friends. I am offering solutions for the 21st century geared toward deprogramming of the African mind (pure pan-African thought process). Great Africans like Ahanyi K.O.K. Onyioha, Patrice Lumumba, Jomo Kenyatta, W.E.B. Dubois, Marcus Garvey, Anta Diop, Dr. Henrick Clarke, Booker T. Washington, etc. had the same thought process, taking into account the diverse nature of African cultures. Make no mistake about it; the world sees the African as a disorganized buffoon incapable of original thinking. That is why the global African communities are disrespected and maligned. It may seem insurmountable, but it can be done. What we need is a meeting of African leaders of thought from all over the world to come up with a strategy to achieve this goal in the long run.
